This is just what I was looking for. The knife blade looks awesome. The action is smooth. It flips open easily, and flips closed nicely as well. Quiet until a nice click on either end.Mine is razor sharp without any touching up. It does shave out of the box. Some people may not like the grip, but I think it's very nice. I've heard it called, "plasticy" but that's probably because the grip is, you guessed it, PLASTIC! I kind of expected that when I ordered it though and I have no problem with it, myself.My biggest beef with the knife is also one of the reasons I bought it. The clip. I'm about to get rid of it. It's not really the clips fault, just my carelessness in walking around. It does stick out a little bit, but it's not terrible. If I maybe would just walk my fat ass around the half-wall, I wouldn't have scratched it. Or if I had gotten out of my car a little more cautiously, the steering wheel wouldn't be scratched. I don't blame the knife, just the lazy ass carrying it around, however, if it is a concern to you, it's something to consider. I took it out and bent it down a ways so that it suits me better and, in the last 24 hours since doing so, I haven't scratched anything else.I can't comment on the edge holding ability yet, but it's VG10, so I'm not worried about it at all. I'm still going to sport a mini griptilian once in a while, but I think I like this thing better. To me, this thing is just sweet. I just wish I could get one with a combo blade.

Every review I read for this knife before I bought it said it was SUPER AMAZING BEST KNIFE EVER... more or less. I think these people may want to like the knife they spent 90 bucks on more than they actually like the knife. So here is a review from the shores of the river deNile for all those swimming in it.I bought this knife as my everyday knife to replace my crkt m16-12zer, which is the best everyday knife I've ever had. I wanted a knife with better steel and I definitely got that with the vulcan mini, the blade is great and durable, but the rest is cheap.It feels cheap, I almost lost it the other day because the clip is poorly designed, the clip comes away from the knife so it can slip off your pocket. I removed the clip and bent it back and it's fine for now but I expect more from a folder in this price range considering the m16 is half the price and solid as a rock.There is a little bit of blade play. I guess the locking system is great but it feels Mcguyver'd or something, the toggle doesn't feel solid and the blade locks with a little play.I got the tanto. Don't get the tanto. It's very cool but it has a re curve which I have to sharpen on the edge of my stones which sucks. I wish I had thought about that before I got it. However I haven't had to sharpen it, after a few months of good use, just strop it once a week or so and it's still razor sharp. It did come with a good edge. You can get it with a different blade shape, a drop point I think.The zytel feels good and it's well balanced.The clip design defeats the vulcan and a reliable everyday carry.It's not a bad knife, I just expected more.

I love the blade on this knife (hopefully I will be able to sharpen it), but the knife does not open with ease and the plastic handle feels cheap.

I was in love with the knife for the first week. Today it seems a little puny, or flimsy. The clip catches on my chair at work and on my couch cushion. I have had to bend it back into place a few times. It is not my EDC, it mostly sits at home.

I now have both the SOG Specialty Knives & Tools VL-03 Vulcan Tanto Knife, Satin and this knife. I still like the larger version of the Vulcan Tanto but really it is too big for an every day carry. The blade at .16" also too thick for good lunch cutting work, ie it splits my apple before it cuts it. The blade on the smaller Vulcan knife is only slightly shorter, maybe a 1/2 inch of cutting surface. But it's also thinner which makes it more useful as an every day carry. Some reviewers have complained about the weight of the larger knife, I really don't notice the difference in my pocket. I also like my SOG Specialty Knives & Tools TWI-20 Twitch XL, Graphite Handle as an EDC, but that knife has an assisted open which gives people the wrong impression. It is faster to open than this knife, but for an EDC, quick opening to open a letter or cut the tape on a box isn't a high priority.On the Twitch vs the Vulcan, the drop point of the Twitch is very handy for tip cutting work. The re-curve of the tanto blade of the Vulan hooks things like rope better. The Twitch is thinner, by about 1/2 the thickness but heavier. Both blades are the same thickness, .125" and the same effective cutting length. Both blades are tight in the hinge, no wiggling about.Either knife is a fine every day carry.
