Inline Tube Replacement for 45 Degree Double Flare Tool

I've been through a few of these sets and had to "rent" one from Autozone for an emergency once. A junky set will break. I can tell you that it sucks to have a broken tool in the middle of a job that you might be doing at odd hours.So far, I've only used this kit to flare curpo-nickel lines, as I'm a convert and will never use steel lines again. I've broken these tools before on cupro lines, though. This set banged through about 20-25 fittings on a complete vehicle line replacement, not including re-do's because of a forgotten flare nut or kinked line. No serious signs of wear and it's holding up great. I intend to use it to replace all the lines on 2 more vehicles.Update about a year in:Held up better than the rental from Autozone so far. Had to do a brake line on my son's truck recently, and this kit was excellent.

Wow, I have never made flares as nice as the ones that this flaretool makes, I think this is a top notch tool, all you have to remember is to lubricate everything that moves with motor oil including the thumb nuts and most importantly the double flare dies and you"ll look like a pro, choose a Youtube video (s) and Voila as there are no instructions. I have not had such trouble with a tool as I have with this one and I been using all kinds of mechanical tools since the early 2000's. All the vids and write-ups of making brake fittings seem way too easy but that's not the case with this tool. I could not get a single flare to be even all around. Each time the lip became lopsided, uneven, or smashed. I tried with a number of lines and different methods of cutting them, lubing them, tightening the tool, securing the tool in a vise, etc etc. Everything those vids show, i tried, and never got a decent flare.I gave up and took the lines to a brake shop and watched as they used a bigger tool and had the lines done in less than 10 minutes. Perfect flares.I will be looking for a better quality tool.

I read some negative reviews and apparently those reviewers are not mechanically inclined. I used this on stainless steel brake lines and it worked quite well. Just make sure the cut is square, the outside of the tubing is chamfered correctly, and the tubing is clamped and is extended per directions and as measure by the double flare insert. I only performed 6 double flares on stainless steel brake tubing, but there is absolutely no marks or damage on any parts of this flaring tool what so ever. Maybe not the tool for a brake shop, but for the home mechanic or less than daily use, this tool will perform just fine.

This kit works very well when used with care. The clamp grips 3/16" line very tightly and tends to put little marks on the tubing OD when used with copper brake line but these are only cosmetic and don't affect function of the line. The clamp grips steel line without slipping and flares well when used with care. The included dies create good double (or inverted as some call them) flares. Overall for the money its a good deal.

The shipping was super fast and this kit works like a champ. I bought this tube flaring kit for my mobile toolbox and it has made double flares without any issues.

I have been a mechanic for a number of years when my shop closed lost my flair tool in the move, this one works as well as my 20 year old what more can you ask.
