USB Bluetooth Adapter for PC Laptop, Wireless Dongle for Windows 11 10 8.1 7 Linux Desktop, Pair w/Bluetooth Headphones Speaker Mice Keyboard Printer Controller (BT5.4, Mini Sized BT540)

Tried 3 adaptors that supposedly work on Linux Mint, but didn't. This adaptor works perfectly on Linux Mint (check blueman is installed and updated & unblock with rfkill, if it doesn't work out of the box). Just what I needed for transferring files from my mobile to the PC.

Omg spent 2 days faffing with fulgaz cycle app on thevm pc. My Bluetooth would not connect to the kicker core! Bought this..plugged it in, auto loaded the driver, picked up the trainer in a few seconds, I needed bluetooth BLE for fulgaz to work.

The delay is very obvious, and it wouldn't work with a set of mid-range Sony headphones, but it did work with a £15 pair of non-descript headphones. The sound delay was obvious through the cheap pair of headphones when using this adapter through my very competent and capable i7 computer; (which has everything but Bluetooth®; hence this order) but there was 'no obvious delay' when using the very same headphones through my TV to watch the very same programme. So, it's very obvious that it's this BT540 adapter that has the delay issue, and 'not' the cheap headphones. As I say, it didn't work at all with my Sony headphones. Therefore, I’m still stuck with wired headphones whilst using my computer, unless I can dismiss the frustration of such an obvious sound delay.

The adapters report in Windows as Realtek device with VID=0BDA, PID=A728. You need to disable any existing Bluetooth device in Windows device manager before using this, so that you can guarantee you are connecting via this, rather than an older Bluetooth interface that doesn't support the later Bluetooth 5.4 specification. The small paper manual shows the procedure to do that. Installation was plug and play and I was able to connect a number of BT devices via it with no problems at all. Several variants of the adapter were provided for review. The only differences between them were as follows : BT540 - Has a blue LED in the top of the adapter and its illuminated when something is connecting via it. Range was about 10M through a couple of walls and a floor, which is reasonable and within the claimed 20M (in open space). The connected device was a set of AirPods streaming music. BT541 - Nearly identical to the BT540, except it has a key ring loop on the end of it and no LED, its also a little smaller. The range was identical to the BT540 BT09 Long Range - Has an aerial, which can be angled and rotated through 360 degrees to cater for the differences in USB socket location and orientation. The range was more than 15M, again through a couple of walls and a floor, which was good. I ran out of house to walk through and tried again in the garden, where I could roam a fair distance away from the house. The only consideration for a long range Bluetooth adapter is that if communication is two-way, then the second device (i.e. the one being connected to), also needs to be able to handle long range transmission, otherwise the main adapter will not hear it.

Practical and essential. Just plug it in and it works perfectly.
