Top specs and quality at a fraction of the process of the big brand phones
In August, I was introduced to the Ulefone brand when I purchased their s9 to replace my old iPhone. There's been no looking back since then, and I even purchased a second one for another family member. We've been very happy indeed, a truly brilliant phone that I still maintain is miles better than the older iPhones at a fraction of the price. In fact, I'm writing this review from my s9 ulefone! So, back to the armor 5... my husband had also been considering changing his 6s plus iPhone to something really up to date. He wanted way more than my s9 has to offer. I'm happy with singing but he wanted dancing too. Initially he'd been considering the new iPhone, that is, until he saw my ulefone. Some reading around on ulefone's website and the wider web brought him to this new Armor 5 model which ticked all the boxes and, price-wise, had us reeling. Not for a minute did we think that we'd receive a phone of this quality. My husband's just asked me to write in the review that he will NEVER go back to an iPhone!!!The name suits this phone perfectly. The casing, whilst being sleek and beautiful in finish, is robust and reminiscent of the armour cases you can buy for your phone. The phone feels weighty and substantial. There are no open holes to ruin ulefone's claims of water resistance; waterproof caps plug solidly down into the ports. As a cyclist and fishing enthusiast, a waterproof phone was exactly what my husband needed. Rubber grips flank all sides of the phone. The finish is superb with the optical finish on the rear catching the light as you turn the phone. The blue is a great colour. As with my experience of my own ulefone, setting this up from the box was a doddle. Transferring images and contacts across from an iPhone is simplicity by using Google drive. The hardest part of the phone set up was finding out how to remove the clear protective film from the rear of the phone!!! A quick note about this, you will find that the phones information (imei number etc) is on a label placed over the protective film at the back. This is because there is no battery case to open and hence nowhere internally to place this information. You will need to place this label somewhere safe!N.B. I'm presuming that, like the s9, the battery is not replaceable. Having said that, this is one hell of a battery capacity at more than double my phones battery size. Even when the battery starts to weaken with age and use, as it's starting out with a long lasting high capacity battery, it will give the user so much longer before the battery starts to become impractical for storing charge.Charging is via USB c type or you can go wireless with QI technology. My husband uses a QI charger and QI powerbank with his. Both are inexpensive models from Amazon and both work brilliantly. The QI connection from the phone is faultless and fast. Likewise the usbc is as expected and charges at speed. The phone has taken a Samsung feature in that it has a visual feature on the front to let you know when you have any sort of message; a blue LED will flash to let you know. An extremely handy feature!Video recording is in 1080p and is super quality. You can make movies, gifs, collages, and books through the photo app that's pre-installed, again the image quality is superb. Image quality is superior to the 6s plus iPhone! The notch screen feature has, we notice, been a big sales point for this phone. It's impressive. My husband likes it greatly. It keeps the battery status and other symbols out of the way of the main screen, freeing up area for graphics such as web pages, videos etc. I must admit, it makes this phone screen appear in a different class. The screen quality and display is absolutely amazing. Vivid and sharp.Apps, videos, web page loading - all run quickly and smoothly and again, much faster than the iPhone 6s plus. This phone is zippy.Sound quality and volume again exceeds the 6s. Just magnificent.Everything works seamlessly through the oreo operating system. Ease of use, fabulous features, a carefully designed platform, and the great selection of apps through Google play makes us very happy. You start to realise just how restrictive the iPhone platform is once you move away. And this phone brings out the best in Android.Across the board this phone is wiping the floor with our previous experience of phones. We would expect to be paying a grotesque sum of money for a top brand equivalent of the armor 5.Ulefone's customer services are brilliant. I've had fantastic communication with useful information from them on all three purchases we've made. I had reason to contact them with a previous purchase query and found they respond quickly and deal efficiently with the query. I have full confidence in their after sales support. I specifically chose to buy this from here through Amazon because of the customer services between ulefone direct and Amazon. Complete peace of mind.Just a quick note to Ulefone direct if they happen to read the reviews. Please don't stop producing these brilliant phones, because we're complete converts to your brand. I wish you success on competing against the big guys in a very competitive market because you really deserve to be up at the top with the Samsung's and the iPhones!

Rugged and chunky but poor battery life
I've waited for two months of ownership to pass (since March 2017), to give a fair reflection of this phone. Basically, everything is as advertised/promoted - so that is good - except for a couple of features I'd bring to light. One of these shortcomings is serious so how the supplier reacts to the 'battery issue' will determine my final review of them & the product. Right, the headline is, at the moment, only 3 out of 5 simply because the battery life is not acceptable Within 1 hour of power on (and minimal use) the phone loses 10%; overall it barely makes a day. Such is the case, I have to initiate the Battery Saver at the maximum permissible option (15% capacity). And this is not because of heavy use (gaming or hours and hours of YouTube, for instance). For a 5000 Ma battery, clearly, in my opinion, there is either something wrong with the battery or the battery management system (compared to my previous two SIM Motorola G4+ Play), which had less than 3000 Ma but lasted twice as long!. My partners Samsung also embarrasses the ulePhone Armour 5 on battery life too). To note, I didn't think it was good to deliver the phone with only 33% charge either. So, how this is addressed by the supplier will ultimately determine my overall assessment. On the rugged front, I've used the phone afloat and in rain - all good here. Indeed, the covers for the ports on the phone seem the best I've seen - solid and tight fitting. The fingerprint sensor is okay, but somewhat temperamental/ flakey - even after reregistering prints. To note too, because of the way they lie on the underlying waterproof membrane (?) the keys on the phone also rattle a bit if the phone is moved/shaken. The overall build of the uleFone Armour 5 running 8.1.0 seems genuinely tough, and the blue metallic rear finish I opted for is striking. Finally, version 8.1.0 seems not to be any different in managing power and auto app management than earlier Android releases in my experience here...strange, because it ought to be. The screen is barely sunlight viewable - so, could be better. One speaker (on the rear) is also just 'okay' - nothing more. So, in conclusion, a genuinely rugged phone with appropriate looks, but pretty abysmal battery life/management which detracts from the phone's overall quality.

Good quality
I'm very surprised by the overall quality of this phone, specially the battery life, since i get almost 1 day and half off with one charge, and i watch couple videos during the day.Almost everyday day,i get home after work with at least 50% plus, of battery. The main reason i got this phone, was because it is dust protected, and on my work i get easily small metal particles on my pockets, what cause issues with my previous phones, with Ulefone Armor 5 i don't need to worry about that, its easy to clean. For me the only "downsides" is the cameras quality, its not bad, but not so good like on a Samsung for example, and the touch screen seems to be a bit less sensitive than the other phone i had, and you will get over it after a while, and might be some definition that i need to adjust. For the price, and quality i think its a good buy

Good for the money but not the greatest.
I have had to edit this review and the rating a few times due to the erratic performance of the battery. Overall a good phone very rugged but trade off is that it's quite heavy due to battery, its pretty secure with an accurate fingerprint scanner and it is indeed waterproof. Battery really should last longer as a 5000mah but during first couple of months the battery ran down very quickly even without WiFi etc. Have accidently dropped it with minimal scratches and dings. Performance is pretty good for a budget smartphone. Love the predictive trace text feature of the keyboard and the Android OS. Please also be aware other sites offer this phone cheaper than Amazon. Overall I do like it despite its initial battery issues which have improved dramatically over time. 80% battery can last me a couple of days.
